Janet E. Mueller, Psy.D.

Kids Focusing, Inc.

Dr. Janet Mueller has been working with children for the past 25 years.  In the past few years she has noted that more and more children, who have been referred to her have difficulties with executive functioning. What are executive functioning skills?  They are a series of brain processes, which include, but are not limited to: planning, organizing, time management, self-control, emotional regulation, working memory, and initiation of a task and goal attainment.  Hence, Dr. Mueller felt it was necessary to create a specialty practice called Kids Focusing Inc. that would assist children with executive functioning difficulties.

In order for children to be successful in school, they need to have well-developed executive functioning skills.  This is especially true in today’s times, when a great deal of academic pressure is put on children.

In order to improve your child’s executive functioning skills, each child must go through an assessment process. Each child’s executive functioning skills will be evaluated through standardized measures.  The results will be used to create a customized program to improve your child’s executive functioning skills.  This program is your child’s road map to success in school and in life.

Who can benefit? All children can benefit from this program especially children with executive functioning issues, diagnosed with ADHD or OCD, children who are on the autistic spectrum and those who are gifted.

Parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s success.  Parents are provided with training to reinforce their child’s executive functioning skills.  This could include reviewing particular exercises that were taught in the session.
